Waterford sports teams had a great fall season both on and off the field. Below is a recap from each coach about their team's performance and their student athletes' awards.
The Men's Golf Team had a successful 2019 season. Finishing second during the Region 17 regular season, the team steadily narrowed the stroke difference from 20-25 strokes to less than a handful. Their practice throughout the season, especially their willingness to work on their short game, is what made such improvement possible. Congratulations to all!!
At the 2A State Tournament we struggled the first day. We shot 375, 30 strokes above our average, and finished in 8th place; the last place to make the cut for day two. The team performed much better on the second day. Improving by 22 strokes, the team shot the third best score on the second day and jumped three places to finish in fifth place overall.
Our varsity team was represented by a rotation of nine players: Eden C. (Class X), Ethan R. (Class IX), Henry G. (Class XI), Justin S. (Class XII), Yanni Z. (Class XII), Carson R. (Class IX), Liam B. (Class XII), Kaden J. (Class IX) and Will F. (Class X). Eden, Henry, Justin, Yanni and Carson represented Waterford at the state tournament.
Individually, Eden C. (Class X) earned a third-place individual medal for his regular season performance. At the state tournament, Eden finished 15th, Henry 18th, Justin 20th, Yanni T-32nd and Carson 42nd. Eden earned 2nd-team 2A All State honors and Henry and Justin earned Honorable Mention Honors. Congratulations to each of these young men!!
Congratulations for a wonderful 2019 season!!

Fall 2019 was a successful season for a young crew. Spearheaded by a few determined, calculated and motivated seniors, our crew represented both the school and the crew well. We started training early in August to prepare for the grueling season ahead. Only two weeks into the start of school, our crew faced their first Regatta on the Great Salt Lake. With strong competition from our local crew, Utah Crew, we showed that we can stand up to par and compete with the big crews. Following the Head of the Wasatch, our crew traveled to The Head of the Oklahoma. A famously difficult course with stiff competitors gave Waterford Crew another opportunity to put the hard practice to work. With a Gold medal performance from our Novice Crew and plenty of fast times, Waterford Crew left Oklahoma City with our heads held high. Our sights set on the West Coast famous Head of the American, we set forward the hardest two weeks of training before a short tapering period. Sacramento proved to hold World Class competition. It was an eye opening experience in the most positive ways. Amazingly powerful finishes from all boats helped Waterford Crew to put themselves on the map in a great way. The crew had rowed their way into the spotlight in almost every event entered. Our crew finished out the season full of enthusiasm, pride, and optimism. The crew has worked very hard this season and this is evident through their results but also through their camaraderie. The crew of Fall 2019 is a team whose strength comes from all working as one. The cohesion can be heard from the laughter in the bus or by the sound of the blades catching as one.
