Kathy Morris, Music Department Chair and Orchestra Director, is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she earned a BA in Music Performance with violin. Kathy began teaching at Waterford in 1993 and since then has grown the orchestra into a robust and diverse program. Kathy instructs a wide range of levels and ensembles including string orchestra, chamber orchestra and a symphony orchestra. Kathy has created a quality, multi-dimensional program that exemplifies the liberal arts values of Waterford. Kathy was awarded Music Educator of the Year in 2014 by the Utah High School Activities Association. She was inducted into the Cum Laude Society as a Charter member in 2012 and was awarded the Waterford Educator Prize in 2007. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, Kathy is an Upper School advisor, Region 14 Music Chair and has taken her orchestra on tour to Germany, Austria, China, Italy, Greece and Ireland. She will take the orchestra to Estonia, Finland and Russia in the summer of 2017. Kathy is passionate about music. She truly believes that music is for everyone, and that she has been fortunate to serve at a school that emphasizes and supports the arts. Kathy is happily married to Craig Morris and has two children. She enjoys all music, sports and international travel, especial the beaches in the Dominican Republic.
