Heidi Hicks is the Assistant Orchestra Director and Viola Specialist at the Waterford School and has been teaching there since 2006. She graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors of Music with an emphasis in Viola Performance. Following her undergraduate degree, she moved to Boston where she attended Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. There she earned her Masters of Music, also with an emphasis in Viola Performance. While in Boston, Heidi’s string quartet was invited to perform in many venues, including Boston Symphony Hall, as live performers on Classical Radio Boston, and in Moscow, Russia, as part of a collaborative program with the Moscow State Conservatory. She was also a member of the Kalistos Chamber Orchestra, which performed regularly around the Boston area. Heidi has participated in the National Orchestral Institute, Blossom Festival where she performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, and was personally invited to perform with the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. Upon returning to SLC, UT, Heidi became a member of the Ballet West Orchestra, where she met her amazing husband in the bassoon section. Music is very much a part of their life. In addition to music, Heidi loves DIY, and constantly has a project going. She and her husband have a darling little girl who is hoping to play the flute someday.
