For Class IX -Adult: The summer metalsmithing class will explore different ways to shape, join and polish metal. Most of the work will be done in bronze, copper and brass. Techniques explored will include raising, chasing, fabricating, riveting, sand casting, enameling, soldering and annealing. Some of these are an end to itself, some are parts of the process of producing art with metal. Torch work will be closely supervised.
The first week will be spent developing an array of techniques. The focus of the second week will be the application of those techniques to a project of the student’s design. Teacher: Andrew Henrikson
