Percussion Teacher/Assistant Band Director

The Waterford School seeks a MS/US Percussion Teacher/Assistant Band Director for Class V through Class XII. In the Assistant Band Director role, the candidate will assist in designing and developing curriculum that will produce passionate and excellent band performance at all divisions of the school. In the MS/US Percussion teacher role, the candidate will teach up to 4 courses working with percussion students in Class VI through Class XII. The candidate will also help design and mentor a LS program introducing Class V students to brass and woodwind instruments, and to the overall band program.

General responsibilities include:

  • Teaching in both the Middle and Upper Schools
  • Designing and implementing a LS introductory winds/brass program
  • Teaching percussion to students in grades 6-12, including repertoire for percussion ensemble
  • Exploring new ways to advance the music curriculum
  • Collaborating with the Band and Orchestra Director
  • Assisting in starting a Pep Band/Drum line
  • Fostering a love of music
  • Fostering a climate of respect for each child as an individual
  • Identifying and pursuing professional opportunities that enhance and extend one’s teaching
  • Participating in all required school events
