Computer science at Waterford is currently on the threshold of significant expansion. The individual who fills this position will play an important and exciting role in shaping new offerings and requirements. The Computer Science position will require teaching at both the Middle and Upper levels, including programming courses in a variety of languages such as Java, Ruby, Python, and the AP Computer Science A curriculum. The ideal candidate would hold an advanced degree in computer science, or a related discipline; 2+ years of teaching experience; excellent teaching skills; broad knowledge of programming languages and best practices; broad knowledge of web development tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, php; and experience with software development tools and apps like XCode, Unity, Git.

The successful candidate will be able to develop a healthy rapport with Middle and Upper School students, and will embrace Waterford School’s mission, vision, and values in curriculum, teaching, and membership in the community. A full-time load entails 18-20 hours per week of course instruction, with the balance of the work week spent on other aspects of the job, including curriculum development, planning for program expansion and eventual relocation to a new science center, parent communication, grading, consultation with colleagues and students, and more.
