Gifts of Cash
The majority of gifts to Waterford are cash contributions, for which donors may receive tax benefits. Cash gifts may be put to immediate use by the school for programs, endowment and projects. Gifts may be made by cash, check, credit card, monthly payment plans utilizing Electronic Fund Transfers, or through Waterford’s secure website.
Gifts of Securities
Many donors may realize substantial tax advantages by transferring gifts of appreciated stock to the school. Gifts of securities are valued at the median price on the date of transfer to Waterford. Capital gains on the amount of appreciation may be avoided and, depending on the donor’s personal tax situation, he or she may receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock. For details on how to make a gift of securities to Waterford, please contact the Advancement Office.
Corporate matching gifts are a great way for Waterford alumni, parents and friends to maximize personal contributions and increase the impact of their donation. By taking advantage of a matching gift, you may be able to double or triple the amount of a contribution.
To find out if your company has a matching gift program, you can enter the company name in the Matching Gifts Company Search.
Each company has its own guidelines for matching, but most are simple:
- Download a matching gift form from your company website or request one.
- Complete the employee portion of the form and submit it along with your gift to Waterford.
- Waterford will verify the gift and submit the form with required documentation to the company.
- Waterford will contact you when the matching gift arrives.
Please contact Andrew Swindle, Director of Advancement, with any questions.
