Full-time Middle/Upper School History Teacher

The Waterford School, a PreK3 – XII day school enrolling 920 students in suburban Salt Lake City, seeks a Middle and Upper School History teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Waterford offers a broad, college-preparatory liberal arts program that emphasizes the fine arts in conjunction with the traditional academic disciplines. The position will require teaching at both the Middle and Upper level. Specific course assignments will depend on the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the department.

The ideal candidate would hold an advanced degree in history, with an emphasis in European or World history, and would have at least two to three years’ appropriate teaching experience.  Essential qualities include the ability to develop a healthy rapport with students age 11-18 and the energy to manage the demands of curriculum planning, teaching, and parent communications. A full-time course load entails full teaching responsibility for up to five courses, each meeting for one hour four times per week.

The Waterford campus is set on 45 acres at the foot of the Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, one of North America’s premier outdoor and recreational areas.
