Stuart Owens

Science Teacher MA, Lancaster University

Stuart Owens joins Waterford School’s Science Department as a Middle and Upper School Science teacher. He graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology, where his final year project concentrated on physical dimorphism of a U.K. shark species. Stuart later gained a Postgraduate Teaching degree from the University of Portsmouth and a Master’s of Arts in Creative Writing from Lancaster University in 2019.

Stuart has been teaching in the United Kingdom for eight years, teaching biology, chemistry and physics to various different ages. Roles between teaching have included managing an insights department at a university, working as an educator in a science museum and carrying out education research for WWF-UK.

Being from the U.K., having mountains on his doorstep is a new experience for Stuart, and he intends to take as much advantage of this as possible. He is an avid hiker and nature enthusiast. Alongside those interests, Stuart enjoys novel writing, reading, board games and pretty much any sport.
