Shannon Tatman

In-house Lower School Substitute B.S. Brigham Young University, Elementary Education

Shannon Tatman grew up in a rural area in the small town of Brookville, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school she attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania for Music Education on voice, then decided to move to Utah where she finished her four year BS in Elementary Education in three years with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

After graduation, Shannon got married and began her teaching career at charter schools in Colorado and Utah where she was Lead Teacher for 3 years, Head of the Sunshine Committee, and played a major role in choosing curriculum and assessments for multiple grade levels in addition to working as a mentor teacher and taking classes for an Elementary Math Endorsement. Shannon also spent time teaching after school music and art classes to students that would not have otherwise had those opportunities: she is drawn to The Waterford School because of the way arts and science are incorporated in order to teach the whole child.

Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, Patrick, and their son, Carson by traveling, hiking, and camping. Her personal hobbies include singing, sewing, and crocheting.
