Ray Barton comes to Waterford after having taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at Olympus High School for 38 years. He received a BA in Mathematics Education from the University of Utah and an M.Ed from Utah State University.  Teaching runs in Ray’s family. His father taught Calculus at Olympus for 27 years before Ray taught there.

Ray was an Associate Instructor at the University of Utah for over 30 years.  He is a national instructor for Teachers Teaching With Technology and conducts workshops for teachers across the country. He is the recipient of several awards including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching and the Utah PTA Outstanding Educator Award.

Ray says he has the best job in the world because of amazing students and fascinating topics. Outside of the classroom he enjoys running, biking, astronomy, and spending time with grandchildren.
