Kent Hercules

Director of Auxiliary Programs M.A. Brigham Young University

Kent grew up in Kansas City and Dallas, and attended St. Mark’s School of Texas. He has loved foreign languages and geography all his life and is always scheming to see a new place or learn a new tongue. He earned degrees in French and Linguistics at BYU and a graduate certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. Kent worked at Waterford from 1992 to 2010, teaching French and Spanish and coaching basketball and soccer. He also worked for twelve of those years at Waterford institute, where he wrote songs to teach math and science. In 2010 he and his fantastic wife, Tracie left Waterford to work seven years at an international boarding school in Switzerland. They then moved to Miami in 2017, where Kent served as Head of School for two years at a wonderful private elementary. After nearly a decade away, he returned in 2019 to his beloved Waterford in a new role, excited to help the school continue to grow and move forward.

Kent and Tracie have four grown children, all of whom attended Waterford. Kent loves to hike, run, cycle, watch sports and play with his grandchildren. He also enjoys the chance study and understand about everything — except shopping, which gives him the shivers.
