Heidi Moller Somsen was born in Saskatchewan, and raised on the coast of British Columbia. She came to Waterford in 2020 from teaching at the University of Utah and the Visual Arts Institute. Working as a professional artist since she was in her twenties, Heidi has exhibited her work across the country, and has been included in several publications, including 500 Figure in Clay Volume 2, Utah Painting and Sculpture, and Utah Art Utah Artists: 150 Year Survey. She is also a two time Utah Artist Grant recipient. Heidi is currently co-editing a book about artists who are mothers set to be published in 2022. She holds a BFA from Brigham Young University and an MFA from the University of Utah. Besides making art, Heidi enjoys mountain biking with her husband Shawn, and spending time with their three adult children.
