Emily Mortensen

History Master's of Teaching, University of Utah

As a veteran educator, Emily is working towards a second M.A. from Middlebury College Bread Loaf School of English and another M.A. in History from Harvard University. Her academic research is focused on women’s contributions to literature, economies and cultures. She enjoys time with her three adult daughters and several granddogs. Emily and her husband work (and work, and work) a humble urban farm a few minutes to the east tending an orchard, beehives, a flower farm, and vegetable gardens. She created a garden-to-table ecology program for children which she taught for several decades, and found joy sharing her love of all things soil and nature. Raised in Alaska and happiest in the wild outside, Emily enjoys rejuvenation in the mountains, either the Wasatch or Chugach, skiing, biking, hiking or fishing.
