Clarisse Colao

Music B.M. University of Tennessee

Clarisse Colao originally hails from outside Chicago, IL. Her education and travels have led her to live in almost every part of the country, including Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina, New Jersey, Wyoming, and now Utah. She has also traveled abroad extensively, touring Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Ireland with various choral groups since 2006. She got into singing at an early age, taking voice and piano lessons throughout her childhood. She was also an active athlete, running track and playing tennis and basketball. She received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee in Vocal Performance, after which she studied for a summer at the Centro Studi Italiani in Urbania, Italy, and then completed a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. While at Westminster she had the amazing opportunities to sing at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, and the United Nations. After grad school she began part time with Apple to supplement her musical career, and she is currently a Genius at the City Creek Apple store in downtown Salt Lake City. Presently her musical career consists of traveling around the country to sing with various choral ensembles, and finding opportunities to collaborate with local musicians. Her current project is a recital centered around a new song cycle based on the words of some of the recent and most influential First Ladies, with music written by Utah composers. She lives in Salt Lake City with her extremely supportive fiancé (who is currently finishing his PhD) and their two beautiful dogs.
