Betty grew up in Salt Lake City with 4 sisters. She enjoyed catching pollywogs, playing kick the can, swinging on the playset, and being outdoors.
She graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Fine Arts. She began her teaching career teaching first grade in Fillmore, UT. After two years, she moved to Orem, UT, and taught for three years where she met Nancy Hueston. She was the first teacher hired to teach on the Sandy campus.
She lives in West Jordan where she enjoys gardening, knitting, being outdoors, and reading.
