Alisa Poppen

Alisa Poppen joined the Waterford School in fall of 2021.  She earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis and an M.A. in Computing and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.  After starting her teaching career at a high school in Sacramento, California, she embraced her love of travel by teaching at international schools in Athens, Greece and Prague, Czech Republic.  She returned to the US to teach at an independent school in the Bay Area of California and moved to Utah seven years ago to teach Biology and Chemistry at Rowland Hall.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Alisa loves to take road trips to the West Coast.  She also enjoys reading (especially British mysteries), baking, listening to music, and watching sports.  She loves teaching science for its many opportunities to allow students to experiment and make sense of the world around them.
