Born in Durham, North Carolina to educator parents, Alex Gould has long known he wanted to teach. He earned a B.A. in English from Davidson College, then taught English and served as Dorm Head at a boarding school in Maryland. In June 2020, he moved to Utah with his partner, Katy, as she began her medical residency at the U, and he joined Waterford the following school year as a TA, substitute, and MS/US Reading/Writing Tutor. This year, he is excited to be back in the classroom, teaching Grade VI Humanities and Grade X English (British Literature).
Having grown up on the East Coast, Alex is still freshly in love with the Utah mountains, and though he’s “outdoorsy lite” by Utah standards, he enjoys skiing, backpacking, and making REI wishlists. He also enjoys cooking, writing poetry and music, and playing with his poodles, Bonnie and Linus.
