Class III Visual Arts

Class III will start out working with clay. We will discuss that clay comes from the earth and how it got there. We then look at artists work who have made hand-built clay artwork. Students will make a pinch pot mug and will attach a relief repetitive design of their choosing, along with a handle. Next is a drawing unit, learning how an artist begins using basic shapes (circle, square, triangle) and connecting them to make a drawing. We use this knowledge to draw an animal of student choice in three different sizes. Perspective is then presented. We make a set design panorama with their animal using three form of perspective principles: Vertical, Size, Ariel, and Overlapping. Moving into paint, students use paint creating many textures. Putting it all together, we make a collage.
