Experience a once in lifetime adventure in China! This 14-day trip visits Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Leshan, Guilin, Yangshuo, and Shanghai. These locations offer stunning glimpses into the past, like the Terracotta Warriors and Leshan Giant Buddha, as well as views of modern China, including high speed trains and vibrant shopping centers. And, of course, we will meet China’s most adorable ambassadors at the Panda Base in Chengdu. Students enjoy bike rides on the Xi’an City Wall and through the enchanting countryside of Yangshuo. They will ride paddle boats near the Forbidden City and a night ferry below the gorgeous Shanghai skyline. Students will use trams and toboggans to traverse to and from the top of the Great Wall. The mouthwatering food options are abundant and varied, including both western and traditional Chinese cuisine, some of which we learn to cook ourselves! Evening entertainment includes traditional dance and theater, folk art and performance, and a modern adaptation of the classic, Liu Sanjie, performed on the Li River. Most of all, students learning Chinese have daily opportunities to practice their language skills and build their cultural awareness and appreciation, including an unforgettable day visiting with our student hosts at a school in Xi’an.
