Waterford visual artists and creative writers recently received another impressive batch of awards at the regional level of the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Congratulations to our very talented students for another outstanding showing at the regional level of the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards — the oldest and most prestigious program in the country. Our region includes Alaska, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington. In the Visual Arts, there were 148 regional awards received by Waterford students:

Ceramics:
Honorable Mention: 19, Silver Key: 11, Gold Key: 3  

Drawing/Painting: 
Honorable Mention: 28, Silver Key: 14, Gold Key: 5

Photo: 
Honorable Mention: 25, Silver Key: 26, Gold Key: 17

Our creative writing students impressively received 30 awards, including 10 Gold Key awards, 8 Silver Key awards, and 12 Honorable Mentions. 

All Gold Key winners advance to the National competition; we are now eagerly awaiting these results, which will be announced in mid-March. Seniors whose portfolios win the top National award receive a $10,000 scholarship. Please click here to see a gallery of the Gold Key winners.
