Waterford Elementary students competed in Utah's Mission Math Competition

Waterford's Middle School MathCounts team (coached by US students Daniel South and Tarun Martheswaran) made it through the competition at the Regional level and qualified for the State Competition.
Nathan Zhou, one of Waterford's MathCount's team members qualified individually to join the Utah MathCounts team at the National competition held in Washington, D.C. this Spring. (Of note, this is the third year in a row we've sent a student to Nationals.) At Nationals, Utah placed 9th and won the award for the most improved State team.
Freshman Tarun Martheswaran took 1st place in the Utah State Math competition held this year at Weber State this Spring. Senior Tanisha Martheswaran and Junior Daniel South also placed.
120 Upper School students participated in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC). Results from this exam qualified freshman Tarun Martheswaran, Sophomore Evan LaForge and Junior Daniel South to take the American Invitational Math Exam (AIME). And finally, Class XI Daniel South's results from the AMC and AIME exam qualified him to be one of only 3 students in the state of Utah to take the United States Math Olympiad (USAMO) test. Only 270 of the original 350,000 students in the U.S. who began this process made it to this level of competition.
