Home Community Blog The Number Monster – Students Take the Lead

The Number Monster Rising Class XII student, Tarun Kumar M. has excelled at local and national math competitions, and is taking his love of numbers to inspire young math enthusiasts in a children's book he recently published. The Number Monster is a book (found here) that teaches valuable lessons about having trouble with math and offers fun tricks to tackle 2-digit addition. The book details the journey of a young boy named Raj who overcomes his math struggles, emphasizing essential life lessons such as persevering through difficult times, and reaching out to parents and teachers for support. Also included in the book are practice problems to reinforce the concepts of addition.

In addition, all profits raised from this book will be donated to UNICEF, an organization driving change for children and young people every day, across the globe, including during the global pandemic, and The Conscious Kid, an education, research, and policy organization dedicated to equity and promoting positive racial identity development in youth. Tarun's book has garnered positive reviews from parents and is working to develop a relationship with Hip Hop Public Health, an organization building health equity amongst children through the transformative power of music, art and science.

This book is helping many children overcome their fears with math, and the profit goes to relevant and timely causes.
