It was an exciting month for the Waterford Science Department, the school broke ground on the construction for a new Science Center, the Science Olympiad team competed at the state competition, and the Robotics team traveled to Houston, Texas for the Worlds competition. It is exciting to see the many incredible ways our students and faculty continue to push themselves and the school towards excellence every day!
Additionally, the Waterford Upper School Robotics Team wrapped up the season this past week with an exciting and inspiration-packed visit to the World Championship in Houston, Texas. Our rookie team, “First Year Ravens” earned the invitation earlier this season at the Utah Regional Competition. It was exciting for the students to play with and against the best programs from North America and beyond! The team performed admirably, working hard through several days to prepare the machine, upgrade systems, make repairs between matches, strategize with a rotating list of partner teams, and then operate the systems in pressure-packed matches. It was an honor for the team to play at this level, in a live setting after two years of disappointing event cancellations. With the strong team foundation that is in place, a very motivated and capable group of underclassmen, and a new science facility that will support our program in new ways, the future of Waterford Robotics is bright indeed!
