The Waterford School, a PreK-3 – XII day school enrolling 920 students in suburban Salt Lake City, seeks an Assistant Lower School Director for the 2019-2020 school year. Waterford offers a broad, college-preparatory liberal arts program emphasizing the fine arts in conjunction with the traditional academic disciplines. The Waterford campus is set on 45 acres at the foot of Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, one of North America’s premier outdoor and recreational areas. The school offers an outstanding working environment. Summary: The Assistant Lower School Director works in tandem with the Lower School Head to advance and execute a mission-congruent vision for students in PreK-Class V, including assisting in leadership and management of the Lower School program and student experience; curriculum and pedagogical development; supervision and professional growth of the Lower School teaching faculty and staff; operations, and administrative oversight. Qualifications: The School seeks an experienced teacher, experience in early childhood education is preferred. Candidates value collaboration with faculty and administrators to effectively incorporate new research and best practices. Candidates should have a clear vision of what it means to support teachers in their growth and development. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, a desire to engage with the school community, and the ability to work closely with parents and children. Candidates should demonstrate cultural competency, and understand culturally responsive teaching practices.
Salary is competitive with other independent schools in the greater Salt Lake area.
