Opening for a Part-Time German Teacher

The Waterford School, a pre-K – 12 day school enrolling 1,000 students in suburban Salt Lake City, seeks a German teacher to teach one section of Advanced Placement (AP) German during the 2013-2014 school year. Waterford offers a broad, college-preparatory liberal arts program that emphasizes the fine arts in conjunction with the traditional academic disciplines. The School is in the final year of a planned phasing out of German as an offering in the Foreign Language department. There are a small number of student (less than 10) who are ready to take the AP course as their final experience with German at the secondary school level. The goal is to find a strong teacher who is able and willing to take on this one-course teaching opportunity for a single year.

Essential qualities for applicants include requisite knowledge of the German language, the ability to develop a healthy rapport with students age 16-18, and the energy to manage the demands of curriculum planning, teaching, and parent communications.

The Waterford campus is set on 45 acres at the foot of the Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, one of North America’s premier outdoor and recreational areas. The school offers an outstanding working environment. The atmosphere is collegial; both families and faculty show a genuine commitment to learning. Benefits include medical, dental, 403(b).
