Upper School Visual Arts: Featured Artist

Alatini James Kaumavae ’11

Alatini’s work deals with personal images perceived in his dreams and meditation. He believes images in dreams are influenced by an external reality and then reassessed and altered by internal preconceptions. Through the process of drawing, he has tried to decipher and reinterpret these images, piecing together a fractured view of his own subconscious.

His work was shown in the 39th Annual Utah All-State High School Art Exhibit, at the Springville Museum of Art. He has been accepted to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
