Upper School Visual Arts: Featured Artist

Jake Lindeman ’10

Jake received a National Silver Portfolio Award in the 2010 Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. His photography has also won awards in the All-State High Schools of Utah Show and has been selected for a number of regional juried exhibitions (competing against adult artists). He will be studying Photography and Film at New York University.

In the extended project for his Waterford Senior Show (and for the Concentration portion of his AP Portfolio) Jake visited barren, lonely places all over Utah, in which human presence was visible but abandoned. He photographed the three panels of these panoramas individually, often returning hours, days, or weeks later to complete the triptych; for him this was a way to emphasize the empty and unchanging nature of these places.

For Jake’s Senior Show, twelve selected images from this body of work were printed approximately fifteen inches high by six feet wide.
